One of Dr. Linh's research interests is liver imaging. Her current research examines the role of Gd-EOB-DTPA-enhanced MRI in predicting the histopathological differentiation of hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) — the most common type of primary liver cancer.

Gd-EOB-DTPA, also known as gadoxetic acid, is a liver-specific MRI contrast agent. Following intravenous administration, part of the contrast agent is taken up by functioning liver cells and later excreted through the biliary system — providing additional information during the hepatobiliary phase of an MRI examination.

When interpreted alongside other MRI sequences and the patient's clinical information, it can help radiologists detect and characterize certain liver lesions. However, it does not by itself provide a simple or definitive distinction between benign and malignant findings.

A review published in RadioGraphics, a journal of the Radiological Society of North America, describes the clinical applications of gadoxetic acid-enhanced MRI in detecting and characterizing hepatobiliary lesions. Dr. Linh's research specifically explores whether imaging features identified using this technique may help predict the histopathological differentiation of HCC before treatment. These imaging findings may provide useful clinical information, but they do not replace histopathology or other assessments when medically required.

Although this research focuses on liver MRI, it also reflects her broader commitment to detailed image interpretation, continuing education, and evidence-based diagnostic imaging.
